Well known for their calming effects pearls symbolise wisdom, nuture love, offer protection and attract good luck.  They can bring balance to your karma and are most associated with the sacral the solar plexus chakras. Luminous and glistening they traditionally have a glamorous image, but they also have a magical water energy and sense of harmony, as they are created within marine pearl oysters and freshwater mussel so hold a synergy with living creatures.

Throughout history, pearls have been the gift of love. Therefore tradition has made them the jewel of brides as they embody the warmth, depth and eternal quality of love. Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC and considered a status symbol in ancient Rome.

The tradition of our Royal Family wearing pearls, dates back to Queen Elizabeth II's great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria as she gave each of her daughters and granddaughters a pearl every year on their birthday. By their 18th birthday, they had enough pearls to make a necklace.  Elizabeth's father King George VI similarly gave her a thin platinum chain to which he added two pearls on each of her birthdays.

Pearls represent aristocratic virtues of liberality, magnificence and generosity.  They love to be worn and the more they are worn the more lustrous and silky they become.
